Special Programming Coordinator

New Hope Senior Citizens Centre, a grassroots non-profit community organization committed to enriching the lives of seniors in Notre-Dame-de-Grace (N.D.G.), is currently in search of a dynamic and compassionate individual to fill the role of Special Programming Coordinator. In this pivotal position, you will be instrumental in the creation and execution of engaging programs designed to foster a supportive environment where seniors can flourish. Your responsibilities will include planning, organizing, and implementing special events and initiatives that promote volunteerism, civic engagement, and overall well-being within our senior community. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a diverse range of special programs and events tailored to the interests and needs of senior citizens.
  • Coordinate with staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure the successful execution of special programming initiatives.
  • Conduct research to identify relevant resources, activities, and opportunities for seniors in the local community.
  • Collaborate with seniors to gather feedback and incorporate their input into program planning and development.
  • Manage program budgets, including expenses for materials, equipment, and guest speakers/entertainers.
  • Promote special programs through various channels, including social media, newsletters, and community outreach efforts.
  • Monitor program attendance and participant feedback to assess effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Provide support and assistance to seniors participating in special programs, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends, best practices, and resources in senior programming and related fields.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, gerontology, recreation management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Previous experience working with senior citizens or in a similar community- based setting is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan and coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with seniors, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Creativity and innovation in program development, with a focus on creating engaging and meaningful experiences for seniors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Fluency in English and French (written and verbal) is an asset.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of New Hope Senior Citizens Centre.

This is a full-time position with competitive compensation and benefits. 35 hrs a week at $22hr
